Awesome Motlley Monsters Flower Patch

What the What?!?
Motlley Monsters DSP and FLOWER Patch stamp set?!?!

But... It is Awesome! Right?! ;-)

Flower Patch and Motley Monster DSP combine for some awesomeness.
Ok, maybe not totally awesome, beauty is after all in the eye of the beholder! But I like the combo.

I had some scraps of the leaf pattern from a sheet of the Motlley Monster Designer Series Paper. The squares are 1.25" and the card base and ink are Crumb Cake. The Candy Dots are from the Brights Collection. I could not for the life of me find any stamp sets in my collection that had leaves in them. (I know, shocking!) So I improvised and used some of the "leafy-er" shapes from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set. And I felt pretty good about it, so I ended up using the sentiment from that set as well. Don't laugh too hard!

This is your Two for Tuesday post... enjoy!

Everyday Occasions Motley Monsters

Motley Monsters? That paper is just for Halloween!!
Sure... and Autumn, and Masculine cards, and anyone who likes Owls, or starry skies... Its got quite the mix of patterns!
Motley Monsters Everyday Occasions Card
Masculine For You card - Autumn or Fall - Everyday Occasions
For today's card I paired the tree pattern from Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper - carefully cropped to avoid any spooky eyes - with a stamp from the Everyday Occasions Cardmaking Kit. I like the 7 piece stamp set included in that kit, its useful for everyday occasions! LOL I used Stampin Dimensionals to pop up the For You on the Artisan Label Punch, and added some Candy Dots. The Crushed Curry strip on the edge is finished with the Finishing Touches Edgelits Die, and I added some Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.

It's (Almost) Fall Y'all - Autumn Garlands

In honor of the upcoming Autumnal Equinox and the First Day of Fall, I made some fall garland/banners. These are in the style of my Easter garlands, you can see HERE. I had a lot of trial and error to get the leaves the way I liked, and I may still change them up a bit, but I like the swirls on everything. It reminds me of the fall wind blowing the leaves around...

Long Banner, great addition to your fall mantle decor

Short Banner, great for the entry way or kitchen

Vertical Banner - Oh this one is my favorite!!
The first two are traditional horizontal banners, long and short, for decorating the mantle and entry way. I used the jute twine and various ribbons coordinating with the Regals and Brights Designer Series Paper Stacks. I used the Pumpkin Pie from the Brights for the Pumpkins. with a stem of Baked Brown Sugar and a vine of Old Olive Cardstock. The Leaves use the Regals paper in a variety of colors, some Real Red thrown in from the Brights pack. These creations are held together using the new Stampin' Up! Handheld Stapler, as well as the permanent Glue Dots. They are delicate looking, but pretty darn sturdy! I boxed up my Easter garland, and look forward to enjoying it next year!!

No tutorial on these... yet! I am making a few for the upcoming craft fair, so look for more info next week. :-) They are not too difficult, but a bit time consuming. Easy enough to prep while you watch your shows though!!

Enjoy the weekend! I'm off to browse the Harvest Festival with the kids - that should be enough adventure to last me a while! LOL

Happy Crafting!

Flashback Friday and my inspiration secrets

I'll admit it... This week has just about done me in. I started off strong, and by last night I couldnt even stay awake past 8pm. The kids & our activities this week just took it out of me. So today, I'm sharing some Flashback Friday links, and some of my origins of inspiration. Have a great weekend!!

I can only be me. And that is Enough.

I love to look at cards - all cards - as a sketch that I can make my own. I modify the colors, the stamps, the papers, the layout a little maybe, but take that card as an inspiration point to jump off of. I think this can be done with almost every card. You don't HAVE to have those supplies or that stamp set, modify it for what you DO have. If you don't like an element here or there, change it up. Sketches are a great way to get the idea of layouts you like and take it from there. I love, and use, Stampin' Up! products exclusively - this doesn't mean I only look at Stampin' Up! cards or ideas. Inspiration can come from greeting cards, cards I see on Pinterest, paintings and art I see when I'm out, natures colors, commercials or print ads, really anywhere. You just have to look for it. The more you look, the more you see, as it becomes part of your habits to look for great composition or beautiful color combos. Live creatively. Maybe you don't get to make everything you see, but being creative is not just about making stuff. Seeing and imagining the possibilities is important to. Then when you get about to making something, you've got tons of stuff to draw from. The mojo flows, as they say! ;-)

Here are some of my Festive Friday Cards that I made as part of a year long series on Christmas Cards: http://www.midnightcrafting.com/search?q=festive+friday

Here are some Blog Hops (you go from blog to blog looking at cards of a similar theme or for a particular group, TONS of inspiration) I've participated in:  http://www.midnightcrafting.com/search/label/blog%20hop

And here is the real Flashback part of this post LOL
Here are some Challenges I've participated in. If you scroll from the bottom upwards, you can see my cardmaking evolution, as some of these posts are quite old. Some have flashes of wow! But some are just wowwww... Don't laugh too hard. :-) I'm sharing these posts though because they will have links to challenge blogs or sketch blogs that you can use. Just because a sketch is pretty dang old, doesn't mean its completely useless. Take today's products and trends, and freshen that old sketch up!!

Project Life By Stampin' Up! Exclusive Stamp Sets

I love that when Stampin' Up! and Project Life collaborated, the stamp sets that were introduced were really very versatile in other applications besides Memory Keeping!

((Lets face it, that's what I love about most of Stampin' Up!'s products! Versatility means economical, means options and possibilities...))

#PLxSU Card from two exclusive stamp sets Project Life by Stampin' Up!

The card I have for you today was made using the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder (definitely a MUST have if you've not gotten it already) and two of the Project Life by Stampin' Up! stamp sets. One is Point and Click, which I used for the accent panel; the other is Holiday Cheer, used for the two sentiments. Great sets!

The colors are not very good in this photo, I apologize, its more coordinated in real life :-/ Always Artichoke, Pear Pizazz and Early Espresso.

Happy Crafting!

Burlap Lullaby

So I'm getting around to some layouts I've loved for a while, but never really used... Today is one that's been in my phone for over a year. :-/ But better late than never, right?

I used the Lullaby Designer Series Paper. I really am loving this pack for non-baby cards. Something about the colors, the patterns, I just love it.
Burlap Lullaby - Stampin' Up! Paper and Ribbon
For this card I used a Baked Brown Sugar card base, and cut a Crisp Cantaloupe heart out on my Big Shot using the Heart Framelits set.Burlap Ribbon with an Antique Brad adds some texture. A small heart from Itty Bitty Accents punch set, punched in the dots layer, and the sentiment from the Six Sided Sampler Set stamped in Early Espresso. Bam!

((Or is it "Boom!" these days??
#EmerilRocks
Sigh.On to the rest of my day!))

Make it fabulous, My Friend!

Seasonally Scattered Thanks

I love this layout for the Seasonally Scattered stamps - it can be used for all 3 with good success! The simple color scheme works with basic colors associated with the stamps, like white and blue, green and white, red and white for the Merry stamp... The same idea for the Love stamp. The Thanks stamp though, I feel could be used for spring time as well as more fall colors. greens and pink, or greens and white. But it does have some autumn and harvest seeming leaves, so red, gold, browns would work too.

Here is what I used for this card, more of a Fall feel:
Seasonally Scattered in Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze
I used Ivory and Cajun Craze Cardstock. I stamped the edges of the stamp above and below the ivory layer in Cajun Craze, as well as on the little banner. The Crushed Curry leaves on this one were stamped from the Project Life set exclusive to Stampin' Up! Holiday Cheer. I added some Candy Dots and Rhinestones, and I also sponged on the Crushed Curry and Cherry Cobbler into the center of the greeting, in a failed attempt at the Reverse Rock & Roll LOL That one should have been in the opposite order, yellow on the edge!! Ooops! Late night crafting sometimes has an effect on my memory! I still think it looks nice. :-D

Seasonally Scattered in Cajun Craze
This version I gave up on the Rock and Roll and stuck to Cajun Craze for everything, but tried getting some of the edging leaves from the stamp in Crushed Curry (inked with a Stampin' Write Marker). I don't love it, but overall I liked this card too!

Which one do you like better?
What do you think of the versatility?! Imagine a set of Thank You notes, or Christmas Cards... a great set!

Two for Tuesday! Enjoy!!
Happy Crafting!

Amazing Birthday Confetti Celebration

Amazing Birthday strikes again! I have been hesitant to use this set, its got a lot of pieces, kind of busy... but the cards I've seen are sooooo cute! And you can make cupcake toppers, gift bag tags, and its neutral so you can use it for guys or gals... Whats NOT to like?!?

So here I tried it with this layout I've been adoring on Pinterest for a while:

Amazing Birthday, Banner Punch, Two Tone Trim
I used a Crushed Curry card base, and cut out about 20 pieces of Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper with the Banner Punch. The Amazing Birthday Stamp was inked in Crushed Curry, then I colored in the 'Today Ridiculously' with my Tangerine Tango Marker, huffed on it and stamped. Then I stamped it again on another paper with Bermuda Bay and fussy cut the Make and Amazing pieces out. I laid everything out and glued the top and bottom banner down, then added the other banners between them. I used the Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the Whisper White layer, and unraveled a bit of the trim and tied it around my long piece of trim. Its pretty festive, right?!? It makes me smile just looking at it.

Hope it brings a smile to your Monday!!
Happy Crafting! -Angie

Tiny Triangle Something to Say - Thank You

Kind of slacking this week, back to my regular schedule next week!! Thank you for your interest and support this week, have a wonderful weekend!
Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey, used in the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack inspired me. I love both these colors, don't you?? I cut cardstock and some Moonlight paper into triangles, adhering it onto a Whisper White cardstock base, onto a Hello Honey cardstock base. I ran this stack through my Big Shot in the Tiny Triangle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. This creates the inlaid embossing effect. I then added it to a Lost Lagoon pre-cut card base. Yep, That lazy this week!! ;)

The sentiment is stamped in Lost Lagoon onto a scrap of Moonlight DSPS, layered onto a scrap of Lost Lagoon, onto another scrap of Moonlight. These elements aren't embossed, but are popped up on Stampin' Dimenionals! I added the arrow paper clip from the Hung Up Paper Clips and snippet of Hello Honey ribbon.

I'm pretty sure it took longer to write this all down than it did to make the card. :-/

Again, have a great weekend!!
Happy Crafting,
-Angie

Boo-tiful Simply Created Build a Banner

Starting some Halloween Projects for this year, here is an cute little dash of spookiness:
Boo Banner for Halloween www midnight crafting dot com
Boo Banner Simply Created Banner Kit and other accessories

This banner was made using the Simply Created Build a Banner Kit. It comes with stencils to create the background stripes, dots, and chevron; as well as a full set of alphabet stencils to create your own sayings! I added some rosettes using Black from my Neutrals Background Designer Series Paper Stack; and Hello Honey from the 2014-2016 In Color Background Designer Series Paper Stack. The rosettes use two 2" strips of the 12x12 paper, scored every 1/2" and accordion folded, then attached end to end and popped down into the rosette on a Jumbo Sticky Round.

I used Sponge Daubers to apply the Old Olive and Tangelo Twist to the canvas banners. Varying the number of times you daub will give you variations in the darkness of the color. The Center of the rosettes has a punched piece of the Motley Monster Designer Series Paper, and a Vintage Faceted Button with a Vintage Brad poked through one of the button holes.

The Ghost and Bats are punch art using the Owl Builder Punch and a circle punch cut in half and then punched along the edges with a smaller circle. I used Rhinestones for the eyes, these might look scarier if I had colored them with the Blendabilities, but they are bright and sparkly.

I used Hello Honey ribbon, the Basic Black Taffeta ribbon, Basic Black Chevron ribbon, and the White and Tangerine Tango Two Tone Trim to finish off the banner. I think that's all. LOL

Its a sweet little banner, big enough to hang on your door or mantle, small enough to decorate a mirror or shelf to add to your Halloween decor!

I'll be making this with a couple groups in October, check out my upcoming events for dates and times!
Happy Crafting!!
~Angie

Unite Excite Livermore - The Swap Cards I Made

Swaps. Fun stuff! Its always nice to make a card you like, and then a couple more because you like it so much! But when you need to make FIFTY cards for a swap, it can be a little overwhelming. Luckily, I knew I had a busy week and I split my cardmaking up into small bites!

These are my swap cards, I did 20 of the Merry and Bright, and 10 each of the other 3 cards.
Good Greetings Bright and Beautiful Merry and Bright
Bright and Beautiful and Good Greetings - Merry and Bright

Good Greetings Bright and Beautiful Sparkle
Bright and Beautiful and Good Greetings - Sparkle

Good Greetings Bright and Beautiful Peace and Joy
Bright and Beautiful and Good Greetings - Peace and Joy

Bright and Beautiful and Good Greetings Happy New YEar
Bright and Beautiful and Good Greetings - Happy New Year
The Stamp set for the stars is Bright and Beautiful item# 135029
The background embossing folder is Lucky Stars item# 135817
The sentiments are from the stamp set Good Greetings - only available to party Hostesses for FREE with a qualifying party. I'd love to help you get this set - take a look at my post HERE and lets schedule something!

The 3D effect on the star was achieved by scoring the back side of the star, then folding on the score marks and attaching the card with 3 dimensionals - keeping the dimension as you put it onto the card base. The Merry and bright has a little different score pattern, I only scored the points of the star. This gives it a very soft pillow effect. The other 3 cards have a much more defined 3d effect, crisp folds along score marks in the points and along the middle space of the points. Here are two pictures that show the scoring on the back so you can see the difference:

Soft 3D effect - score only the points of the star, gently fold the tips and the center will "puff"up.
Crisp 3D effect - score from point tip to opposite edge, fold peaks on the points and valleys on the center edges. Really pinch the folds for a well defined look.

Close Up of the definition and Valley/Peak folds
The cards all use the same elements with only a difference in the color and arrangement of the embellishments. This made it easy to assemble, and allowed me to have some variety in the monotony of making 50 cards. :-) I do like this card though, easy to make stuff you like!!

In Colors: Mossy Meadow, Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, and Blackberry Bliss. The inks on the Good Greetings sentiment match the card base color. The white layer is embossed using the Lucky Stars embossing folder. The star is stamped in Encore Ink in Silver. This is a fragile ink - it does smear if you don't let it dry, and it will still rub off a small bit onto your fingers when folding. Be gentle and it will work just fine! Perhaps, on other pieces I will try stamping and then heat embossing with clear powder, but I might take a break from this card for a bit! LOL The Embellishments are the Frosted Sequins in the Holiday catalog, Basic Jewel Rhinestones, and 1/8" Silver Ribbon. I tried to match the sentiment with the colors. Mossy Meadow for a more Christmas greeting, Hello Honey for a bright New Year greeting, Lost Lagoon for a peaceful and joyful greeting, and Blackberry Bliss for a bold sparkle. I hear this star set is pretty popular, and was on back order. If you like it, I suggest you place your order earlier rather than later. Bright and Beautiful in the Holiday Catalog. :-)

Happy Crafting!
-Angie
